5 Ways to Outsource Marketing Your Carpet Cleaner Business

Jassen Bowman: Okay. And, most people hate confrontation, so that just kind of makes sense that that would work for you. You have mentioned several times that you don’t really have to do all this by yourself. That if you either don’t have the time, or don’t think you have the writing ability, or something like that, that you can actually outsource a lot of these tasks that we’re talk about to market your carpet cleaning business, to other people. Could you talk about why you like outsourcing, what type of projects you outsource, and where you find people to outsource these things to?

James Orr: Sure, yeah. Basically I’m a huge fan of outsourcing. I think it’s a great idea to do it. You don’t have to do any of the marketing yourself. Most of this stuff you can outsource to other people. I’ll give you some examples of things to actually outsource.

Number one is: you could hire people to write and post articles for you. You could hire someone to keep your advertising up on, like, classified ad websites. So, if you’re going to run an ad for carpet cleaning services on CraigsList or Backpage or Kijiji, or one of those things, you could hire someone to do that for you, so that you’re not doing it every day. You could hire someone to coordinate placing your articles or ads in other people’s online newsletters and ezines. You can contact other real estate agents to kind of coordinate something like that. You can also hire someone to contact blog owners and do guest blog posts on their thing. And you can hire people to focus on social media for your business.

Jassen Bowman: Doesn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of using social media?

James Orr: It depends on who you ask, I think.

Jassen Bowman: Ha ha ha ha.

James Orr: You know, the overwhelming majority-

Jassen Bowman: You knew I was going to ask you that, right?

James Orr: You know… I did.

Jassen Bowman: Ha ha ha ha ha.

James Orr: The overwhelming majority of social media people say: absolutely. It is kind of against the whole idea of what social media is about. However, on the other side, if it’s a business, and you’re doing it as a business social media marketing experiment, don’t they more so expect you to be more business oriented on that? And, do you think people like Donald Trump and Britney Spears are actually managing their own Twitter accounts and Facebook accounts?

Jassen Bowman: I highly doubt it. Ha ha ha.

James Orr: Yeah, probably not.

Jassen Bowman: Ha ha. So, what are your favorite places to find folks for outsourcing?

James Orr: My favorite place to find people for doing outsourcing is oDesk. It’s oDesk.com and, basically, if they go on there, they can put up a job that they want done, describe exactly what needs to be done, and people from all over the world will come on and bid in order to have that job done.

Jassen Bowman: Okay. Now, and there’s some others out there too, right?

James Orr: Yeah, like you can go to guru.com or eLance.com and it’s a very similar process, but I prefer oDesk, that’s my favorite one.

Until my next post,

James
