How Many Paying Handyman Clients Do You Need To Reach Your Goal?
Now we know the amount of money we need to earn per hour on average in order to reach our income goal. Let’s work back with how many paying clients you would need in order to achieve your goal. The first thing you need to know is what’s the average value of a paying client.
Of course this can vary significantly depending on your business, the people you’re targeting and how that’s working. For example, if you’re doing major remodeling projects, your dollar per client is going to be significantly higher than someone who’s going in and doing honey-do or very small fix-it type jobs.
An average for someone doing a fix-it type job may be $50, $100 or $200. Someone who is doing a major project – focusing on re-doing a basement – could be more like $7,000, $8,000, $10,000 or $20,000 depending on the size of the basement and what you’re doing. Realizing what your actual average per client is is really important, and you’re going to want to measure that. We’re going to do an example here, and I’m going to give you an arbitrary number, and you’re going to want to figure that out as we go.
You’re going to take your revenue goal, and you’re going to divide it by the average value of a paying client. This is going to give the number of clients you need in order to reach that goal.
Until my next post,
James
