If you’ve been looking for a way to drastically and substantially improve the total amount of revenue that you are seeing in your carpet cleaning business there you really need to focus on three major factors. If you take the time to focus on improving these three areas (and very few carpet cleaning business owners are willing to even though it is easy to do so), you will see massive positive revenue changes in your business. Let’s take a few minutes to look closely at the three factors that make up the total yearly revenue for your carpet cleaning business and specific strategies for maximizing each of the three.

Get more carpet cleaning clients, make more money.

It should be obvious and it probably is: with proper profit margins and overhead ratios, the more clients you have the more money you’ll make. Seems simple enough and it is, but what are some ways to increase the number of clients that we have in a carpet cleaning business?

Being a marketing guy, there are four ways to massively increase the number of clients in your carpet cleaning business that immediate jump out at me. First, and it is the 800 pound gorilla in the room, is just a much larger amount of marketing to get more carpet cleaning prospects and therefore clients. However more marketing is not the end of the discussion. Better marketing or improving on your existing marketing is also a key factor in massively improving the number of clients you have. So, if you have more marketing and better marketing and your phone is ringing more with prospects, what else can you do to get more clients? How about improving your ability to convert prospects to actually paying carpet cleaning clients? Prospect conversion is extremely important. Lastly, you need to provide carpet cleaning service worthy of being referred. Wow your clients and make it so they can’t keep their mouth shut about you to generate positive word of mouth referrals.

Larger transactions mean more profit.

Improving the number of clients is just part of the equation, but securing larger transactions from your clients is another. Are there things you can do as a carpet cleaner that will increase the transaction size per client? Sure there are. For example, you probably already know which types of jobs are the largest profit centers for you. Why not market specifically to find more of these types of jobs instead of just doing general carpet cleaner marketing. Another way to increase the transaction size is not to be at the low end of the market in terms of price. Consider focusing on the higher end of the market which will give you more profit per transaction and more money to do marketing to get more clients too.

Seek out more carpet cleaning transactions per client per year.

The third factor that affects your total yearly revenue for your business is the number of transactions per year per client. Can you actually improve on that and, if so, how? The first step is to provide amazing carpet cleaning service that is worthy of additional transactions. But often just providing an amazing carpet cleaning experience is not quite enough… you have to ask too. We usually ask through marketing to our internal database of clients and prospects. As an aside, marketing to our in house list is usually 16 times more profitable than marketing to get new clients.

In conclusion, is it possible for a carpet cleaning business to take these three simple factors, focus on them and make a huge difference in their revenue? Yes. The question is: are you willing to take some action and implement these strategies? I think you just might.

Until my next post,

James
